#9 NUCPP AT WORK!

DECEMBER 8, 2022

NUCPP PRESIDENT STRIBLING INTRODUCES PRESIDENT BIDEN

PRESIDENT BIDEN ANNOUNCES CSPF APPROVAL

THEY SAID WE CAN’T

WE SAID WE CAN

AND WE DID!

Pension Warriors,

By now, you know that the PBGC approved the CSPF SFA Application on December 8, 2022.  But you may not know that a small group of NUCPP members was invited to attend the press conference with President Biden to announce that the PBGC had approved the $36 billion for the active workers and retirees from CSPF.

The event was small and was handled by the White House through the IBT.  They invited one member from some key states that would have been severely impacted by the insolvency of CSPF and were therefore significantly impacted by the approval of Central States’ SFA Application by the PBGC.

Ken Stribling, NUCPP President, was invited to introduce President Biden.  After a very heartfelt introduction by Ken, President Biden announced that the PBGC had approved the SFA Application for Central States for $36 Billion.

Representing all of the Retirees and Active Workers were NUCPP members:

Ken Stribling, NUCPP President -representing Wisconsin

Dana Vargo, NUCPP Director of Communications (Madam Secretary)-representing Ohio

Gary Lynch, NUCPP Trustee - representing Texas

Cynthia McDaniel, Advisory Board member - representing Missouri

Willie Hardy, Advisory Board member - representing Tennessee

Jan Kachur, NUCPP member representing Michigan

Steve Baribeau, representing Save our Pensions Minnesota

Also in attendance were NUCPP Treasurer Bernie Anderson and Co-Chair OH Canton (Local 92) Committee Don Vargo.  Sadly missed were Mike Walden, Co-Incorporator and past President of the NUCPP, and the great Pension Warrior and activist, Rita Lewis, who was invited but unable to attend.

Special thanks go to IBT General President Sean O’Brien, IBT Secretary-Treasurer Fred Zuckerman, James Donovan, Director of Political and Legislative Action, and Sunshine McBride, Federal Legislative Director, for coordinating this great event and for providing transportation and lunch for the group.

The NUCPP Board of Directors and Advisory Board wish to thank all of the NUCPP members for their hard work and continued activism.  This success story required the efforts of all Pension Warriors and so many others, including those that supported us in Washington and the untiring efforts of their staff, the Pension Rights Center, the news media that continued to carry our story, and so many others.

Again, thank you for your continued support of the NUCPP.

NUCPP Board of Directors
