07.02.24 #23 NUCPP AT WORK-UPDATES AS TO NUCPP ACTIVITY

July 2, 2024

                                                              #23 NUCPP AT WORK!

Pension/Security Retirement Warriors,

We hope everyone is doing well and getting ready to enjoy the 4th of July Holiday!

We haven’t been sending out much information lately, but we have been busy! In addition to spending quality time with family and friends, we have also worked with our Partners in Washington.

On May 23, 2024, several members of the NUCPP Board of Directors were invited to attend a meeting at the White House titled ‘White House Older Americans’.  At this meeting, we were introduced to various members of groups representing Security Retirement Issues. We were also invited to a private meeting with the Special Assistant to the President's National Economic Council.  In addition, we had an opportunity to talk with our partners from the Alliance of Retired Americans at the event.

Secondly, as you know, the NUCPP Board of Directors determined that we needed to endorse President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for re-election based on the critical impact of the American Rescue Plan Act on our pensions.  In addition, as we act as a ‘watchdog’ over our Social Security and Medicare benefits, President Biden is working with members of Congress to protect the benefits we worked for and our pensions. Since endorsing the President, we have had numerous discussions with the Biden campaign. We will be in touch as further news results from these meetings.

Thirdly, and very exciting, we have been invited to attend the 4th of July fireworks at the White House South Lawn.  Several of our Board members will be attending this event on the 4th!

Lastly, but also very important, this is a reminder to make your reservations for the NUCPP 4TH ANNUAL MEETING IN MILWAUKEE ON SEPTEMBER 25TH.
